Andhra Pradesh government collaborating with Microsoft for low-cost Wi-Fi


  • Andhra Pradesh government and Microsoft will be working on a project called ‘White Space , a technology for delivering a low cost internet connectivity using unused television spectrum, near srikakulam.
  • Already in countries like as Ghana, Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania, South Africa, Kenya and Singapore, Microsoft implemented this project on pilot basis but for the first time it is being implemented in India
  • The highlighting point of this technology is the availability of 200-300 MHz spectrum band in the white space can reach up to 10 kms.
  • Microsoft in collaboration with Department of Primary Education built a cloud-based Machine Learning solution which helps in predicting student drop-outs and required steps to bring drop-out rates down
