Knowledge is power and the ability to think or perceive differently is more important than the knowledge gained. Thus comes the power and usage of research. Post-doctoral research is an important step towards grooming the young minds towards research oriented/academic career. Thus, with this aim, the University Grant Commission launched Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship (DSKPDF) in the field of scientific research. It was created with the objective of helping new PhD holder to overcome training deficiencies at the doctoral level and help them to explore new areas for research in UGC recognized Indian Universities.

Nature of Fellowship:

Bridging fellowship ₹34,100/-
Higher Fellowship            ₹46,500/-
Normal Fellowship ₹43,400/- ₹45,000/- ₹46,500/-

Contingency grant- ₹1 lakh per annum

Eligibility:

  • An applicant has to be a PhD holder in science or must have submitted his/her PhD thesis under science faculty
  • Age- Must be below 35 years of age. Age relaxation- 3 years (for OBC), 5 years (for SC/ST/Women) and 10 years (for Differently abled)
  • Teachers/professors below the age of 35 years are also eligible
  • Applicants receiving this fellowship are not eligible to receive any other government/UGC fellowship

However, the fellowship is awarded on a yearly basis with renewal/termination clause depending on the research progress. The maximum duration of this fellowship is 3 years. If an individual has already applied for this fellowship but was declared unsuccessful, he/she can apply freshly with new research proposal after one year from the date of declaration of their earlier result.( For example- if you were declared unsuccessful on 31st March, 2010 then you can apply freshly from 1st April, 2011)
