People can contribute their ideas to Budget 2016-17

Central government has asked citizens to contribute their ideas and send proposals for this year’s budget. Last year, many suggestions were included in the budget 2015-16.

The Ministry of Finance, to make budget making process more transparent and to foster ‘Jan Bhagidari’ – has decided to ask citizens to share their ideas through MyGov.in platform by Jan 20. Mostly in the end of February, the budget is presented in parliament.

Earlier on Dec 22, PM Modi asked BJP MPs to reach out to publics to collect their ideas and suggestions for this year’s budget. He also reminded his Council of Ministers to share their ideas. Railway will also reach out to public in the same manner and for the same reason.

The government said that last year many ideas such as monetization of gold, abolish wealth tax and simplify tax regime, create special tax incentive for promotion of Yoga – were included in the last year’s budget.
