Speed up sheep rearing scheme: Talasani Srinivas Yadav

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday directed the District Collectors to speed up the sheep rearing scheme. At a video conference from Secretariat here, the Minister asked the Collectors to ensure that the distribution of sheep units among selected beneficiaries was done in a hassle-free manner.

Since Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was personally monitoring the sheep scheme, there must not be any chance for negligence or dereliction among the officials at any level. Adequate quantities of medicines and fodder were being made available at all districts, Srinivas Yadav said. District administrations should take steps to grow ‘Style Hemata’ grass in forest lands and at horticulture lands in the districts, he said.
“We have pressed in veterinary doctors and staff through mobile health vans for providing health services to the sheep,” he said and asked to ensure that each lorry carried only four units of sheep to avoid health problems.
District administrations should take steps to reach their targets of importing sheep and collect the share of beneficiaries 10 days before they purchased. Insurance and geo-tagging details of the sheep units should be made online.
The Minister said that arrangements were being made to press in 100 mobile veterinary vans to cater to the sheep scheme needs across the State.
