The union government on yesterday revealed that six Indian-manufactured Metro rail coaches have been exported to Australia-a first-of-its-kind consignment.
- The rail coaches built-in Gujarat’s Vadodara are 75 feet long and weighing over 46 tonnes each.
- A total number of 450 coaches will be exported to Australia over the course of two and a half years. These coaches require a specialized loading operation and high amount of care.
- The maiden consignment was shipped from the Mumbai Port. An official statement from the Ministry of Shipping said, “Mumbai Port holds supremacy in handling oversized precious cargo”.
