Coastal Shipping between India and Bangladesh to surge

  • In a move to reduce the freight charges between India and Bangladesh, the Union Cabinet has approved the agreement on Coastal Shipping to carry out movement of goods between the two countries.
  • Exim trade between the two nations would be benefited and also the utilization of port capacities of Indian ports would be improved.
  • The Indian ports serving as transshipment ports for Bangladesh cargo will be benefited with enhanced throughput as a result of Indo-Bangladesh coastal trade.
  • This will also aid in increasing the bilateral trade between the two nations.
