- The government decided to increase the quantum of compensation to farmers who lost their standing Rabi crops due to recent unseasonal rain and hailstorms by 50% and asked banks to restructure farm loans in rain-affected states.
- Also, the government lowered the eligibility for getting compensation for crop damage due to natural calamity from 50% of crop area to 33%.
Benefit
- The relaxed eligibility norms will benefit lakhs of farmers who lost their standing crops on over 120 lakh hectares of land across 14 states due to unseasonal rain and hailstorms in past over one month.
