- The National Green Tribunal ordered that all diesel-powered vehicles that were more than 10 years old would not be be permitted to ply in Delhi.
- The tribunal directed the transport department of Delhi government and other concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive data of registration of all such vehicles which are 10 or more years old.
- The Delhi government was pulled up for failing to comply with a series of orders issued by the tribunal in November and December to address the capital’s worsening air quality.
Effects
- The tribunal said that diesel is prime source of air pollution in Delhi and that air quality in the city was so alarming that people were even being advised to leave Delhi due to adverse effects on health.
