Bengaluru Will get India’s First Space Park: ISRO

India is going to get her first space park in the IT capital of India- Bengaluru. The park will be set up by Indian Space Research organization (ISRO) in the Whitefield area of the city and private industries will be permitted to use the park for manufacturing facilities and satellite components. This is an important step towards ensuring PM Narendra Modi’s Make-in-India initiative.

In the recent years, ISRO has increased its launch capacity and it is expected that the research organization will launch 12 more satellites for observational purposes, navigation and other remote sensing services in this year. The objective behind setting up the space park is to help facilitate the increasing demand for satellite components and other necessities.

ISRO Satellite Centre Director Mr. M Annadurai has revealed that the park is likely to be inaugurated this month.

The space industry is in constant demand of producing more satellite components and this park is just a step further towards meeting the demand of the industries both government and private. A few private organizations are already working with ISRO in their space programmes and the list will continue to get bigger as more number of industries are coming forward to work with the research organization. 100 acre facility is already being provided to those industries that cannot do satellite components themselves. So, such parks will be needed even in coming future to facilitate them.
