News:
- The Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the South Oil Jetty of ten million tonnes capacity, built at a cost of Rs 222 crore, for smooth movement of liquid cargo from Paradip Port.
- Installation of the new oil jetty would lead to enhancement of Paradip Port’s cargo handling capacity to 118 million tonnes per annum from 108 mtpa.
- He laid the foundation stone of Rs 16 crore Dust Barrier System under Environmental Management Programme of the Centre, also of Rs 174 crore Capital Dredging of Iron Ore, Coal, Multi-purpose Clean Cargo Dock Basin and a plantation programme of about 20,000 saplings.
- Gadkari announced plans to establish a super-speciality hospital in the port town on government land.
