News:
- E-ballot system for Non Resident Indians (NRIs) is all set to get activated. The e-ballot system will enable the NRIs to vote from their respective hometown and they won’t have to fly all the way to India for casting their vote.
- After e-voting is initiated, an average of 18,000 votes per constituency may get polled from abroad. These additional votes, if polled, will play a crucial role in state and general elections.
- The government is also planning to extend the facility to the armed forces personnel and their families serving away from their native place, including abroad.
