- The toy train service between ‘Queen of Hills’ Darjeeling and New Jalpaiguri is resumed today after a gap of nearly 5 years.
- The toy train service was suspended on September 11, 2010, after a landslide destroyed about 600 mt of road and tracks running parallel to it at Tindharia.
- The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site, consists of 88.48 km of narrow gauge track that connects New Jalpaiguri with Darjeeling, passing through Ghoom at an altitude of 2258 meters.
- A special train ‘Red Panda’ also started from Darjeeling to Kurseong, another hill station in Darjeeling district, with domestic and foreign tourists.
