Increment in the pension of the freedom fighters: CM Tamil Nadu

News:

  • Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa said that her government will continue to strive to achieve the goal of all round development and inclusive growth.
  • The State will attract investments worth Rs. 1 lakh crore from the Global Investors Meet to be held next month. She said her government has done away with power cuts due to increase in power generation and it has led to industrial growth and creation of jobs.
  • She announced that freedom fighters pension would be increased from Rs.10,000 to Rs. 11,000. Similarly, the family pension for their heirs will be increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 5,500. A total of 1,881 persons will benefit from this and the decision will cost the exchequer an additional Rs.1.37 crore.
  • She also announced that the special pension for the descendents of Veerapandiya Kattabomman, Marudhu Brothers, Muthuramalinga Vijaya Raghunatha Sethupathi and V.O.Chidambaram’s grandson will be enhanced to Rs. 5,000.
