- Defence electronics spending in the emerging nations of China, Russia and India are growing fast and by 2022, all the three countries could command a market share of five per cent each, from about two percent in 2012.
- The United States and Europe hold the dominant market share of global defence electronics.
- The opportunity for electronics in defence systems in India is spread across both standalone equipment (about $18.5 billion) as well as at a sub-system level.
- Indian companies have other challenges too – the country does not have a common infrastructure for testing, prototyping and certification of defence systems – expensive affairs, particularly for small businesses.
