- The Make in India and Skill India initiatives appears to have paid off to the government of India as job creation percentage has doubled off between July and Dec 2014.
- According to a labour ministry survey released, 2.75 lakh jobs were created in eight key sectors during the six months, an increase of 118 per cent over 1.26 lakh jobs created in the year-ago period. The number of jobs created in the October-December quarter at 1.17 lakh was, however, less than 1.58 lakh jobs created in the previous quarter or 1.82 lakh jobs created in the April-June quarter.
- The new government is focusing on 25 sectors of the economy for job creation and skill enhancement. It is dedicated to focus on imparting skills to millions of youth in the country to make them employable.
