Veena Jain named Doordarshan DG

• The information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry on Friday appointed Veena Jain as director general (news) in Doordarshan will be  reporting directly to the ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
• Jain, an additional secretary rank official, will also hold charge as officer on special duty overseeing the ministry’s new media wing and social media cell.
• DD DG (news) is one of the most influential positions in the public broadcaster. Both DD and AIR are media wings that function under Prasar Bharati.
